The Fantastic Revolution is literally a revolution. When you look at the 7 characteristics of Fantastic People with each one giving energy to the next, it is easy to see how it works:

Passion
It all starts with being passionate about what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it.
Create
Then you have to be creative in how you are going to achieve it.
Delight
You will need help - you need customers to love you, colleagues and partners to be committed and support from family and friends.
Performer
Now it’s time for action - you will need the confidence to take the action required.
Alive Inside
But you have to keep taking that action - you will have to be self-motivated to keep the discipline needed.
Always Learning
You have to be learning all the time as everything will have changed in a short time.
Fun
And finally, you have to enjoy it, otherwise you will never make it happen - that enjoyment fuels the passion - which loops us around to begin the revolution again.

Being Fantastic is self perpetuating when you get it right!

LISTENING: THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL?

LEARN TO LISTEN

Engage people
This is not just some ‘be nice to people’ campaign here, although as a Londoner I do sometimes love saying good morning to people on the tube, just to see their reaction! It’s just a fact that if you make people smile they will be more helpful to you in general (not always on the London Underground though!)

Coming home from work to a smile rather than a list of things you haven’t done; being genuinely interested in a teenagers’ life rather than seeing them as some sort of alien; being greeted warmly at a meeting; making a customer feel fantastic about themselves; commenting positively on a colleagues’ work – all those things and more must surely make a difference!

I feel that communication is one of – if not the – most important skills in life.
Well listening is the most important communication skill.
Which makes listening pretty important in the whole scheme of things!!

If you want to engage people, you have to start by listening to them.

Very excited about my new book - Fantastic - When good is not enough!! The print presses start today after some proofing problems delayed things a bit. Couldn't get some of the colours right, which those of you who know my books understand is pretty critical. anyway - sorted now and just waiting in anticipation for my first view of the finished article. We are taking pre orders so call us on 0208 827 1659 to make sure you get a copy.

The idea of the book is to make the principles of the fantastic hairdresser available to a wider market. If you are a hairdresser you will find some of the material familiar, however I have updated a lot of it and there is some completely new stuff as well.
